Portland Beer Week proudly presents ‘Mussels from Brussels’ at Wayfinder Beer on Wednesday, June 22nd. Five breweries — Von Ebert, Upright, pFriem, Gorges, and Wayfinder, – create five secret sauces for dipping in one pound of mussels served with fries, and paired with their beer for $35!. You vote for your favorite pairing, winner announced at 8 PM. Mussel Frites are served all day!

PFRIEM FAMILY BREWERS

SAUCE: Tarragon & Lambic Aioli. Traditional aioli base and add shallots, tarragon and Pruim to replicate a béarnaise.

BEER: Orange Zest Golden Ale
This Belgian-inspired blonde ale is deliciously complex and deceptively strong, with nuances of lemon meringue, tangerine, and clove. It’s a fruit-forward ale with a dry finish and a most refreshing, citrus kiss. Great with rich pasta, shellfish, hearty greens, and a robust dialogue.

VON EBERT BREWING

SAUCE: Peaches grilled, smoked and marinated in a mixed culture peach beer "Alma", are given a spicy kick and a floral note with the addition of intensely aromatic rose harissa, a North African chili paste. The viscous broth goes from sweet to savory thanks to the addition of house made fish stock and a generous dose of mussel liquor gives it just a hint of briny ocean water.

BEER: KAVS
a special version of our Northwest IPA, Volatile Substance. On top of its normal Mosaic, Simcoe and Columbus, KAVS receives an addition of Fukushu Kumquats and Azacca hops for an added layer of refreshing citrus zest and stone fruit.

GORGES BEER

SAUCE:
Fennel, preserved lemon, and za'atar

BEER:
Saison Blanc - This Belgian style farmhouse ale had Sauvignon Blanc grape juice added during fermentation. It has notes of citrus, melon, coriander, and finishes dry.

UPRIGHT BREWING

SAUCE: Nam Jim Jaew
a northeastern Thai dipping sauce with a base
of fresh lime juice and fish sauce, sweetened with palm sugar, and
flavored with toasted rice powder, shallots, cilantro, and bird's eye
chiles.

BEER: Midwest Wheat
a classic summer wheat beer, low in alcohol but
medium bodied. Open fermented, hopped with willamette and cascade,
notes of stone fruit and citrus.

WAYFINDER BEER

SAUCE: Spicy Roasted sweet corn sauce with Cotija cheese

BEER:
KOLLAPS - KÖLSCH STYLE ALE
drying, delicate, pillowy-effervescent with a mellow, spicy hop finish.
